JUST IN: APC NWC suspends Amosun, Okorocha, recommends expulsion

The national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) has suspended Ibikunle Amosu and Rochas Okorocha,
governors of Ogun and Imo states receptively, from the party.

The NWC has also recommended their expulsion from APC to the
national executive committee (NEC).

The decisions were taken at the NWC meeting on Friday afternoon
in Abuja where allegations of “anti-party activities” were levelled
the governors.

Amosun and Okorocha were both elected senators on the platform
of APC on Saturday but they are backing different candidates for
the March 2 governorship election.

It would be recalled that both governors have thrown their
weights behind guber aspirations of candidates other than
APC’s.

Police Boss Renames Complaint Response Unit

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Mohammed Adamu, NPM,
mni, has approved and ordered with immediate effect the reversal of
the name of this Unit from “Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit
(PCRRU)” back to its founding name – Complaint Response Unit
(CRU).

This decision was taken as a result of the recommendation made
by the pioneer Head of the Unit, ACP Abayomi Shogunle, following
feedback from the public and stakeholders working with the Unit on
police accountability in Nigeria.

The CRU is an internal police oversight Unit of the Nigeria
Police Force, the Unit was established in November 2015 and tasked
to run a community-oriented complaint management system through
which citizens’ complaint against police officers are addressed in
real time. The motto of the Unit is “No To Impunity”.
