An FCT High Court in Jabi has fixed May 31 to deliver
ruling/judgment in a suit filed by a businessman, Tochi Michael,
against the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko
Muhammad, over alleged age falsification.

The plaintiff had told the court that the acting CJN
deliberately falsified his date of birth from December 31, 1950 as
contained in all his official records, including that of WAEC, to
December 31, 1953 upon his appointment as a judicial officer.

Among reliefs sought, the plaintiff asked the court for an order
directing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to prosecute the
acting CJN for the offence of perjury and any further order which
the court may deem fit.

At the resumed hearing on Friday, Justice Muhammad’s counsel,
Sam Ologunorisa (SAN) informed the court that like it happened at
the last sitting, the plaintiff has failed to come before the court
to prove its case.

“What we have is an unusual situation that it is the defendant
that is begging the plaintiff to come and prove their case”, he
said.

He however informed the court that the defendant had filed a
notice of preliminary objection with written address as well as a
counter affidavit on the merit of the case supported with a written
address.

He, therefore, adopted the processes and stated that he was
relying on them in urging the court to dismiss the suit.

Upon the adoption of the processes, the presiding judge, Justice
Danlami Senchi adjourned the matter to May 31 for
ruling/judgement.

Police Probe Destruction of Security Posts at
Zuba

The FCT Police Command sternly condemns the unfortunate
activities of some hoodlums in the early hours of Thursday that
resulted in the obstruction of vehicular movement, vandalising and
burning down of observation posts belonging to the Police and
Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) at Zuba, Federal Capital
Territory.

On 23rd May, 2019 at about 0800hrs one motorcyclist identified
as Salisu Hamidu ‘m’ 32 years riding his motorcycle on high speed,
in an attempt to manoeuvre his way through vehicles parked by
police officers on stop and check duties, swerved his bike into an
oncoming car, that is yet to be identified, and was knocked down
leaving him with some injuries.

When notified about the incident, policemen who mobilised to the
scene in collaboration with some sympathizers moved the victim to a
nearby hospital where he is currently receiving medical
attention.

Meanwhile, some miscreants took advantage of the situation to
attack police operatives on their legitimate duty and set
observation posts belonging to the Police and FRSC on fire; as a
result of which four vehicles parked within the premises were also
burnt.

The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Bala Ciroma who in company of
some senior Police officers visited the scene of incident at about
0930hrs to assess the situation and ensure normalcy was restored to
the area, has ordered discreet investigation that will lead to the
identification, arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the
heinous act to serve as a deterrent to others.

The road has since been opened for vehicular movement and
members of the public are enjoined to go about their legitimate
activities as calm has been restored to the vicinity.
