The Ekiti State House of Assembly today unanimously passed a
novel Administration of Civil Justice Bill.
The Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Adeniran Alagbada
thanked members of the House for their diligence in scrutinizing
all the provisions of the Bill. He said that the Bill, when enacted
into law, will go a long way in providing an additional legal
framework in support of the States Ease of Doing Business
Initiative. He added that the House had responded to one of the
main concerns of investors in the State, that of quick resolution
of commercial disputes.
Olawale Fapohunda, Ekiti State Attorney-General &
Commissioner for Justice in his reaction said the law will enable a
coherent legal framework for the managing the transformation of
civil justice in Ekiti State.
He added that the legislation was a first necessary step in
sustaining the civil justice reform programme of the Fayemi
Administration. Fapohunda said that solutions to issues of delay
and the high cost of resolution of commercial disputes have been
adequately provided for in the Bill.
By this development, Ekiti State has become the first state in
Nigeria to enact a law for the Administration of Civil Justice.
