Notorious Criminals in Sokoto

It will be recalled that in the series of my previous press
briefings, I did not mince words on the resolve of the Command
under my watch to fight to the finish, all crimes and social vices
bedeviling the state, especially the war I have declared on the
soaring spate of unnatural offences (sodomy), armed banditry, rape,
armed robbery and other offences.

In view of the above, Operatives of Operation Puff Adder,
Special Forces from the PMF, CTU and tactical teams of the Command
shall remain relentless toward achieving the goal of securing the
State.

The efforts of the command have yielded more fruits by smoking
out criminal elements as follows:

CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ARMED ROBBERY AND CULPABLE HOMICIDE,
CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT AND KIDNAPPING :-

On 12/07/2019 at about 0020 hours, armed men numbering about
seven (7) invaded the residence of the District Head of Gidan Bubu
village in wammako LGA Sokoto, one Alhaji Muhammadu Gidado shooting
sporadically. In the process, one Usman Muhammadu ‘M’ ,a Palace
Guard was shot and killed while two others sustained gunshot
wounds. They kidnapped Alhaji Sani Ardo and one other was beaten
and they dispossessed her of her Tecno GSM handset. Alhaji Sani
Ardo was later released after the sum of three million naira
(3,000,000 ) was paid as ransom.

During the course of investigation, one Maude Salisu was
arrested and the Tecno GSM handset belonging to Hawa’u Sani with
the sum of four hundred and seventeen thousand and thirty naira
(N417,030) suspected to be his share of the ransom was recovered in
his possession. He admitted to have taken part in the operation.
Detectives are on the trail of his gang members.

ARMED ROBBERY
On 29/07/2019 at about 2100hrs, one Abubakar Umar ‘M’ of Arkilla
area Sokoto, a commercial motorcyclist, reported, that on same date
at about 2000hrs, he conveyed one Safiyanu Mande ‘M’ of Sanyinna
District Tambuwal L.G.A, Sokoto on his Daylong motorcycle with
registration NO. DGS-765 QH from Gidan Man Ada to A.A Gwandu Friday
mosque. On getting to the place, the suspect removed knife and cut
him on his throat and attempted to Snatch his Motorcycle, when some
good Samaritans came to his rescue and called the police. The
suspect was arrested and he confessed to the crime and the
motorcycle recovered. Suspect will soon be arraigned in court.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED BANDIT
On 28/7/2019 at about 0930hrs, the District Head of Labani village
Silage, reported that he received information that one suspected
Bandit by name Abubakar Mammam ‘M’ of Tungan Magami village, Silame
resident in his village, Labani was sighted with a bullet wound.
During police interrogation the suspect confessed that he is a
Catle rustler. He claimed that on the day he was shot he was on his
way to steal a cow when unknown person(s) shot him on his leg in
the bush. Case under investigation.

UNNATURAL OFFENCE
On 02/08 /2019 at about 0200hrs, one Faruk Ibrahim ‘M’ of Kofar
area, Sokoto was arrested by Policemen attached to Kwanni Division
Sokoto, that on the same date at about 0130hrs, the said suspect
deceitfully lured one Abdulkadir Bello ‘m’ aged 14yrs, and one
Abdulkadir Muhammad ‘M’ aged 13yrs into his house at the same
address and forcefully had sexual Intercourse with them through
anus. During the course of investigation suspect confessed to the
commission of the offense. Case under investigation and will be
charge to court soon.

RAPE
On 20/07/2019 at about 0700hrs one kalifa Sani ‘M’ of Kunbula
village, Sabon Birni Division, that on 19/07/2019 at about 1300hrs,
the said suspect confronted one Fatima Hassan ‘F’ age 15 years old,
inside a bush on her way to Kunbula village and forcefully had
unlawful sexual Intercourse with her. During the investigation the
suspect admitted the offense.

RAPE
On 27/07/2019 at about 1130hrs one Bello Umar ‘M’ of DogonDaji
village, Tambuwal L.G.A, was arrested by Police men attached to
Dogon Daji Police Post, that on the same date at about 0900hrs the
said suspect deceitfully lured one Zinatu Abubakar ‘F’ aged 11yrs,
a minor, into his house at same address and forcefully had unlawful
carnal knowledge of her. Case under investigation and will soon be
charged to court.
