In Nigeria, it is an offence to torture, annoy, beat, kick or
terrify any animal.
However, persons preparing animals as food for the purpose of
human consumption or persons hunting are exempted from liability
under this provision.
PENALTY
Imprisonment for 6 months or fine it N50.
See Section 495 (1)(a) (3) of the Criminal Code.
