Moray McLaren of the Lexington Consultants in the United
Kingdom, has lauded Nigerian Lawyers as being
recognized internationally as some of the best lawyers in the
global market.

McLaren, disclosed this at the Annual Law Week of the NBA, Lagos
Branch which commenced today with the Theme “Disruption, Innovation
and the Bar” and held at Shell Hall, MUSON, Onikan, Lagos
state.
McLaren noted that the international market and International
Clients consider Nigeria to have some of the best lawyers and law
firms, and Nigerian lawyers must be confident of this fact.
He however expressed the worry that there are too few of these
good lawyers from Nigeria who are available to service the
international market.
McLaren added that it is important for Nigerian lawyers to take
advantage of technology as that is the direction in which global
clients are going.
“It has become a worrying global challenge that young lawyers
are not learning the skills for talking to Clients and to address
this Law Firms need to put their motivated and intelligent young
lawyers forward to meet and be involved with Clients. He added that
there should be a reward structure for lawyers who bring innovative
ideas to the firm.”
McLaren further noted on the use of technology, that what is
required is “Let’s keep it simple!”
He said “We typically have the technology we are not using to
the full extent. Let’s explore how to maximize the existing
technology in order to meet global need of clients”.
