The inauguration which was held at the palace of the Ooni of
Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi was attended by top traditional
rulers in the South West including the Olubadan of Ibada, Oba Saliu
Adetinji.

It was organised by the Federal Ministry of Health in
collaboration with National Primary Health Care Development Agency
(NPHCDA).

Ehanire said the new model primary healthcare centers across the
country would contain all necessary facilities and competent
workers to make them run effectively and efficiently.

He said this would bring quality healthcare services close to
the people and that the traditional rulers would decide where the
new model primary healthcare centers would be located.

While commending the federal government for the initiative, Oba
Ogunwusi urged Ehanire to address the demands of the striking
medical doctors.

Also, the Country Representative of the United Nations Children
Fund (UNICEF), Peter Hawkins, who was represented by Dr Muhammed
Okorie, lauded the initiative and urged the federal government to
invest more on healthcare delivery.
