A Senior Advocate of Nigeria J.S. Okutepa SAN has congratulated the newly elected executives of the NBA Makurdi branch on the success of their recently held elections and their emergence from the process.
In a congratulatory statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Okutepa noted that he was obliged to congratulate the newly elected executives because the Makurdi branch is his “first love”.
According to him: “NBA Makurdi branch is my first love and I love the branch. I have served in various capacities in that branch. No matter what my historical contributions to building and nurturing that branch to enviable light cannot be wished away by my relocation to Abuja to practice. I consider NBA Makurdi as my home branch and I will always support the branch”
The Learned Silk continued “It is for these and many reasons that I use this medium to congratulate Mrs M M Ikwulono as the newly elected Chairman of our branch.”
Reacting to the election results, Okutepa described the emergence of a first Female branch chairman as significant in many respects while also commending those who participated in the race but did not win for their show of sportsmanship.
He said: “It is a departure from the abnormal normal that we have seen over the years. I salute your epoch making history. I salute all those elected into the Exco. I salute those who didn’t win. You won. The branch won. The Bar won. The legal profession won. Let the Branch do everything to bring all on board. Nobody is an island. I pledge my support for the branch and the new Exco.” Congratulations.
