Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo said in a viral video that the Ijaw people are angry with the Bola Tinubu-led federal government over the political crisis in Rivers State.
Dokubo, a staunch supporter of Tinubu and the APC during the 2023 elections, said the Niger Delta, especially the Ijaw ethnic group, are disappointed with the present government even though he had assured them it would perform well.
He alleged the Tinubu administration has become a “nightmare” for the Ijaw people based on current situations. Dokubo described the Rivers crisis as a “litmus test” for the government, warning that any resulting chaos would start from the state.
“I cannot stop them. As an individual I cannot prevent the angry reactions, nor can I stand in the way,” he stated.
The former militant’s comments indicate rising tensions in the Niger Delta over political issues in Rivers State. His previous alliance with Tinubu seems to have collapsed as he now paints the administration as hostile to Ijaw interests.
