*Cost of UTME Form Now N7,700 with Mock Exam, N6,200 Without
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised registration fees for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In an announcement on Monday, JAMB stated that the cost of UTME registration will now be N7,700 inclusive of a mock exam. Registration without the mock exam will be N6,200 .This represents an increase of N1,000-2,000 from previous years.
“We wish to inform prospective 2024 candidates that profile creation for registration has commenced,” JAMB said via its official social media handle. The window for purchasing forms opens January 15th, 2024.
The deadline to register for the 2024 UTME is March 28th. This year’s UTME main exam will be held April 19-29 across the country.
The price hike comes despite calls from student groups and activists to make the exam more affordable. They argue the increment could exclude some students from low-income families.
JAMB is yet to issue an explanation for the sudden increase in fees. The exam body generates significant revenue from UTME sales annually.
With this latest development, the cost of testing for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions continues to rise. Critics are urging education administrators to consider the impact on financially disadvantaged applicants.
