Prominent lawyer and rights activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN, has expressed deep grief over the demise of ex-Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN.
In a tribute on Wednesday, Adegboruwa described the late governor as “a man of courage, valiant and steadfast.”
According to him, Akeredolu was committed to true federalism, good governance and always spoke the truth bluntly.
He said the former governor rallied national support against terrorism and rose in defence of his people when it mattered most.
Adegboruwa also highlighted how Akeredolu supported disadvantaged lawyers and promoted religious harmony during his lifetime.
While condoling with the deceased’s family and people of Ondo State, the activist lawyer hailed Akeredolu as a great Bar man, social crusader and defender of the weak.
He lamented that Nigeria has lost a rare gem with his tragic demise after battling health challenges for months.
“The events leading to his death give vent to the saying that man has no say in the determination of his exit on earth.
“He fought the good fight of faith, trusting God for his healing and victory, but God knows best.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the good people of Ondo State, the legal profession and Nigeria at large.
“Adieu, great Bar man, social crusader and lifter of the weak and vulnerable.”
“Nigeria has lost a rare gem,” the statement added.
