*As Ward 3 Exco Denounces ‘Phantom Elements’ Behind Dokubo Suspension Claims
The Labour Party in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State has vehemently dismissed claims of the suspension of their State Chairman, Dr. Hilda Dokubo.
This rejection comes in response to a purported suspension notice circulated by Ajalamonia Ibama, Lole Amacheer, Emmanuel Ibama, Osaki Dieypiriye, and Osaki Dokubo. However, these individuals are not members of our party, and their claims should be disregarded. The party considers this notice invalid and without merit.
On July 19, 2024, the party’s Ward 3 executive committee in Asari-Toru LGA held its 4th meeting, resulting in a press release that emphatically supports Dr. Dokubo. The committee, led by Comrade Owunari Princewill, passed “an overwhelming vote of confidence” in Dr. Dokubo’s leadership as the Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee in Rivers State.
The press release, signed by Ward 3 Chairman O. C. Princewill and Secretary S. A. Amachree, stated that they had “carefully x-rayed the happenings in the Party at the State, LGA and ward levels, and are satisfied with the direction and state of affairs of the Party.” They praised Dr. Dokubo for protecting the party from “political buccaneers who want to hijack the structure of the party in the state for their selfish interest.”
Horsfall Mac-Jay, Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee in Asari-Toru LGA, echoed these sentiments in a separate statement. He described the suspension claims as “unfounded” and originating from “agents of acrimony.” Mac-Jay emphasized that the individuals behind the purported suspension are “phantom elements” who are not recognized in the party’s membership register.
“Dr. Hilda Dokubo remains our party chairman and she has our support in Ward 3 and Asari-Toru LGA in general,” Mac-Jay affirmed.
Both statements urged the public to disregard the suspension claims, praising Dokubo as a person of “high reputation and strong character” who defends the interests of Asari-Toru and the Labour Party in Rivers State.
These announcements were issued from the party’s secretariat at No. 56 King Amachree Road, Buguma City, and addressed to various officials including the National Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the State Director of the Department of State Services, and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.
