The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction and gruesome murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha.
The suspects, identified as Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28, were apprehended on May 28, 2025, following a sustained and coordinated investigation by police operatives. They were tracked to a hideout in a neighbouring state, where they were taken into custody.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the duo allegedly kidnapped the victim and later murdered her, despite collecting a ₦14 million ransom from her family.
The incident, which shocked residents of Onitsha, occurred on January 13, 2025. The bank manager’s body was found dumped along Nnobi Road, with her eyes tied — a chilling detail that underscored the brutality of the killing.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as police work to unravel the full extent of the criminal operation and apprehend other gang members still at large.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reiterated the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property in the state. He assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and that justice will be served.
