Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has officially named the newly completed Lafia Flyover and underpass after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday at Lafia, the headquarters of Lafia Local Government Area.
The one-kilometre dual facility is now known as the “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange”, a tribute to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which inspired the project’s realization.
Governor Sule praised prudent resource management as the key factor behind the project’s successful completion, emphasizing that the flyover and underpass were constructed within one year without resorting to any borrowing. He said, “We have paid the contractor 100 per cent without borrowing one naira. Because of your own reforms, that is why we have been able to do this in a state like Nasarawa.”
President Tinubu, who was on a one-day working visit to Nasarawa State, arrived at Usman Dan Fodio Airport, Lafia, where he was warmly received by Governor Sule and other top officials. During the event, the President commended Sule for his focus on initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people and acknowledged the efficient management of public resources.
“This is a great honour for me to be here, feeling at home and welcomed, to inaugurate this project,” Tinubu said. “It is actually a combination of an underpass and a flyover covering one kilometre, built within one year because of your reforms.”
Besides inaugurating the flyover, President Tinubu also launched the dualised Shendam Road, the new Nasarawa State Secretariat Complex, and held a town hall meeting at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall.
In addition, the President distributed 60 security vehicles to law enforcement agencies, empowered youths with 50 electric tricycles, and provided tractors and farm implements to farmers at Lafia Square.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and governors from Niger, Benue, Kwara, Kaduna, Imo, Ogun, and Borno states.
President Tinubu also expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by the people of Nasarawa and urged them to remain committed to the administration’s vision of economic recovery and national prosperity.
