The price of Brent North Sea oil, the international benchmark, topped $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time since the end of July, as fresh flare-ups in the Middle East war stoked supply concerns.

Brent jumped more than two percent to $100.19 a barrel, adding to worries about high inflation, before pulling back slightly to $99.90.
