President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after a four-week working vacation in Europe.
Presidency sources said the President would return through Lagos, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to receive him at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja.
Tinubu had departed Nigeria on August 30 for London, where he began the working vacation.
After spending about a week in the United Kingdom, he travelled to Paris, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré.
The President had initially been expected back during the weekend, but the return was extended by a few days.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had earlier confirmed that Tinubu’s working leave had been extended slightly.
The President is also expected to spend Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary in Lagos on October 1.
That would make 2026 the second consecutive year in which Tinubu marked the independence anniversary in Lagos.
During his absence, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at a number of official engagements.
Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos briefly to attend to official duties before returning to Abuja.
