Some time ago, i wrote a story on the fuel crisis rocking my nation Nigeria, in that piece, i put forward to my numerous readers that the federal government of Nigeria led by president Mohamadu Buhari deliberately allowed the PMS marketers to sell product at uncontrolled prices just to make Nigerians get used to the idea of buying petrol at the planned increase in pump price. Some of my readers agreed while some reacted to my view as way out of common sense, today that which I feared most seem to have come upon me and many other Nigerians who never believed that a government that promised change in all facets of life of the people is the one that has now brought to their doorsteps hardships that has become grossly unexplainable. To make matters more intriguing, few moments after the new pump price of N145 per litter was announced, all filling stations that hitherto were under lock and keys began to dispense products as if they were earlier instructed by some authorities yet to be known not to sell products for reasons best only known to this perceived authorities, in all of these, I smelled some conspiracy against the people here, a conspiracy only conceived to rape the very soul of the people who most of the time have been on the receiving end.
The other day I was conversing with a friend who said that if only government could provide the basic needs of life such as Hospitals, Roads, Education, Power and Security amongst others to the people, then they could keep the rest of the nation’s wealth to themselves.
Now back to the post i was talking about, i was responding to a call by a group that called itself CUPS ask Nigerians to occupy the National Assembly in a bid to reclaim Nigerian from the hands some perceived traitors. My reaction to the call was simply put thus,
At a time like this when Nigerians are currently being forced by the APC Buhari led administration to get used to the idea of buying fuel at the N150 per litter before the planned price hike, CUPS is talking about occupy the National Assembly to rescue Nigeria from the hands of Bukola Saraki, i urged the group to please rescue Nigeria first from the hand of the APC before focusing on the politics of the Senate.
Just as i am doing now, i also sought to know the where about of all the human rights activists and social liberty crusaders that stood tall against former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 when he wanted to remove the controversial fuel subsidy that would have pushed pump price of fuel then to about N141. Today, fuel is now officially N145 in my country with fears that in a couple of days there may be another increase. So i ask the present administration that seem to have canceled all promises made to the people of this great country this big question… WHICH WAY NIGERIA?
