..says govt to address agitation soon

Proponents of restructuring of the Nigerian polity have nothing
to fear, as the Presidency has promised to address the vexed issue
and others across the country soon.

The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who made the pledge
Thursday, said the Federal Government was noting all the debates
and conversation around restructuring and other regional agitation,
with a view to coming up with acceptable policies that will be fair
to all.

Osinbajo made the position at the Abuja International Conference
(ICC), venue of the presentation of the book, “Nigeria: The
Restructuring Controversy”, written by the Chairman, Police Service
Commission (PSC), Sir Mike Okiro.

The Acting President’s position was echoed alongside that of a
former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd), who argued
on the inevitability of restructuring, which is dominating
discussions across the divides.

Speaking at the well-attended Book Launch, Osinbajo, who was
represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on
Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, said the President
Muhammadu Buhari-led government, will soon address some of the
issues surrounding the restructuring debate.

This, however, is without prejudice to the unity and
indissolubility of the country.
