Cameroonians marching against Boko Haram last yearAt least nine Boko Haram members have been gunned down in Nigeria and two Cameroonian women kidnapped this week have been rescued, a report said on Saturday.
The confrontations between Cameroonian civil defence warriors and men of Abubakar Shekau took place last night in the Nigerian town of Barkari, Cameroonian newspaper, L’Oeil du Sahel, said.
The newspaper said the civil defence warriors were from Amchide, a town in Cameroon, on the border with Nigeria. It abuts the Nigerian town of Banki, with streets and even houses straddling the border.
The two women had been kidnapped on 28 April, L’Oeil du Sahel said.
The war against Boko Haram seems to be far from over with at least 1.9 million Nigerians still displaced, 25, 000 people killed in Nigeria since 2009 and over 1300 murdered in Cameroon since 2013. Over 500, 000 students have been pulled out of school and the Chibok girls who were kidnapped two years ago remain firmly in the hands of the ruthless terrorists who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State last year and have since modelled their barbarism after the Middle East killers.
