Tarishi Jain posted this graduation photo on Facebook. It was from 2015. One year later, she became one of three American university students killed in a terrorist attack in Bangladesh. News reports said the terrorists, Islamic militants, stormed the cafe/restaurant in Bangladesh where Jain was and hacked to death 20 people when they could not recite passages of the Koran. Jain was a student at the University of California-Berkeley. She died along with two other American college students, Faraaz Houssain and Abinta Kabir. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had urged its fighters to target “Crusaders.” In this post with her mother, Jain wrote, “To the most selfless, compassionate, and devoted mother – happy birthday. Thank you for going above and beyond in literally everything you do for me, you deserve all the happiness in the world.
