- There is an indication that the 80 megawatts Dutse solar power plant in Jigawa State would commence power generation and transmission to national grid by the last quarter of 2017.
- This emerged as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and manufacturers of giant generators, Mantrac Caterpillar, have entered into partnership to put an end to power outages at the country’s airports.
- The Managing Director NOVA SCOTIA Power Development Limited, which is executing the project, Mr. Amit Modi, said that the company would spend $150 million for the construction of the generating plant sited at the outskirts of the state capital, Dutse.
- According to him, they had already settled all the land compensation and would soon commence the civil and technical work, stressing that if “everything goes normal by last quarter of 2017 we will start transmission to national grid.”
