FCTA Threatens To Revoke Undeveloped Plots

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has
threatened to revoke any undeveloped plot in the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) two years after infrastructures have been provided
in the area.

Speaking during the removal of illegal structures around Zuba
Interchange, coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council
(AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, gave the owner of an empty plot, near Major
Oil Ltd, Zuba, two weeks, to commence the development of the area,
or risk revocation.

Shuaibu noted that the law permits the administration to revoke
any property which has not been developed, within two years, after
infrastructures have been provided.

Accompanied by the ministerial taskforce on environmental
sanitation on a cleanup exercise, the AMMC boss stated that
undeveloped plots constitute insecurity by harbouring criminals and
miscreants, adding that the aim of the exercise was to keep Abuja
clean at all times.

He maintained that his office would leave no stone unturned to
stop all illegal activities wherever they take place, adding that
he would also ensure that legal businesses take place in authorised
places.

Shuaibu also noted that there are designated motor parks and
markets across the city, for legitimate businesses, but frowned
that people prefer to use unauthorised places, just as he called on
residents to stop conducting businesses in illegal places in the
territory.
