Prof. Attahiru Jega, To Speak At NIALS 2018 Founders Day Lecture

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is to holds its
2018 edition of Founders Day lecture.

The Lecture is Scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 27th March,
2018 at the Andrew Otutu Obaseki Auditorium of
the National Judicial Institute Abuja, at 10 am.

The theme of the lecture is “TOWARDS ELECTION INTEGRITY
IN 2019: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS”.

This year’s edition of Founders Day Lecture will be Delivered by
Professor Attahiru Jega, Pro-Chancellor Plateau State
University, Former Chairman of the (INEC) and Former
Vice-Chancellor Bayero University of Kano.

The purpose of the lecture is to fulfil the vision of the
Founding fathers of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal
Studies which was to develop a world class institution and the
nucleus of legal scholarship in Africa.

This vision, which has been institutionalized through statute
has been nurtured over the years by staff and management of the
institute. For the past 37 years, the Institute has set aside a day
in honour of its Founding fathers through this platform.

The Founders’ Day lecture is an opportunity to revisit the
dreams of our founding fathers and critically examine NIALS
fidelity to its statutory mandate. It is a day of special tribute
to those who have steadfastly and with passion have delivered the
mandate of the Institute through their service to the
Institute.

The institute has in the previous editions, had some
distinguished personalities deliver the Founders’ Day Lecture such
as Professor B.O Nwabueze, SAN, The Honourable
Justice A.G Karbi-whyte (JSC Rtd); Late Chief Bola Ige, SAN, Former
Attorney General of the Federation, Late Professor Ian Brownlie,
C.B.E, Q.C of Oxford University, Professor Ademola Popoola Legal
Scholar and Dean, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife; Judge Chile
Eboe-Osuji , President of the International Criminal Court, Hague;
Hon. Justice (Prof.) Otieno–Odek, JCA & Director of Judiciary
Training Institute (JTI), Kenya.
