The controversy over the hike in the Land Use Charge
of Lagos State seems to have gotten a sharp twist following the NBA
president’s involvement in the matter.
According to the Chairman of the NBA Ikeja Branch, Mr.
Adesina Ogunlana, the NBA President, Mr A. B MAHMOUD SAN
interacted with him over the telephone telling him that the learned
Attorney General of Lagos state had reported him to the president
and that he (the President) was asked to talk to him ( Mr. Adesina
Ogunlana ) over their situation with the Lagos state Government on
the Land Use Charge.
He noted that he ventured a response and after a short while,
the President asked whether he could get a report from him.
According to him, he responded in the affirmative but requested for
the e-mail address of the esteemed leader to send the needful.
Below reads the post:
“This morning, Mr A. B MAHMOUD SAN the president of the
Nigerian Bar Association interacted with me over the
telephone.”
“The President told me that the learned Attorney General of
Lagos state had reported me to him and that he (the President) was
asked to talk to me over our situation with the Lagos state
Government over the Land Use Charge.
“Said the President ‘ what’s happening in Lagos, Mr
Ogunlana?”
“I ventured a response and after a short while, the President
asked whether he could get a report from me. I responded in the
affirmative but requested for the e-mail address of our esteemed
leader to send the needful.”
TheNigerialawyer recalls that the Ikeja branch of the NBA had
earlier protested over the supposed hike in the Lagos State Land
Use Charge for a total reversal. However the authority only reduced
it by 50% which did not go down well with the branch.
