JUST IN: NBA-AGC 2018, TCCP Chair, Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi SAN Resigns

Information reaching TheNigerialawyers reveals that
Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN has resigned as chairman of the NBA
Technical Committee on Conference Planning (TCCP).

According to a reliable source, the Professor tendered his
resignation letter to the NBA president A.B. Mahmoud SAN, whilst
leaving behind a message of goodwill.

The letter reveals that the learned silk, may have resigned on
health grounds.

However, the source informed TheNigerialawyer that the TCCP
chair after a meeting with the NBA president, A B Mahmoud, SAN,
informed the chair that he will have financial autonomy over 2018
AGC fee but this seems not to go well with the TCCP Chair as it is
contrary to the constitution of the Association.

The source further revealed that, if the Chair is allowed to
have financial autonomy, it then means other committees appointed
will also have their own account. Based on this the TCCP Chair had
to resign.

The resignation was said to have taken effect midnight today,
April, the 24th 2018.

TheNigerialawyer recalls that exactly four Tuesdays ago, March
27, the NBA president inaugurated the TCCP for NBA 2018 Annual
Conference, with the singular honour of calling the learned silk
back to duty, and more importantly to sit with him as Chairman of
TCCP.

The resignation is coming as a shock to the entire legal
community, being made at a time preparation had already begun for
the 2018 NBA National Conference.

Prof. Koyinsola Ajayi (SAN) have been severally eulogized as one
of the breeds who is not a NBA career politician but was called
upon to serve TCCP as chairman, based on his profile. He will
greatly be missed in the line of service, especially for the
professionalism displayed in achieving a successful NBA Annual
Conference in 2017.

Ajayi (SAN)

Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi SAN attended the Igbobi College between
1971 and 1975. Though a quiet student, he nevertheless enjoyed a
very robust social life. His mien deceived many of his classmates
who did not realize that all he had to do was glance at his books
once and he would head the whole class in the examinations.

Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi SAN carried this natural brilliance on to
his studies at the University level and obtained his first degree
(with honours) from the University of Ife (now called Obafemi
Awolowo University); not only did he obtain several Distinctions in
his studies but was also named a Federal Government Scholar for the
entire period of his programme. He was called to the Nigerian Bar
in 1980. He obtained an LL.M. from Harvard University in 1982, and
a Ph.D. in International Markets from Cambridge University in
1991.

Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi SAN, who was admitted to the Middle
Temple of the English Bar in 1989, was elevated to the rank of
Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2000. He is a member of various
domestic and international associations such as the International
Bar Association, the English and the Nigerian Bar Association.
He was once the Vice President of the Worldwide Alumni Association
of the Harvard Law School. He is an Associate fellow of the
Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, England and also a Director of
