The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS)
will be holding a Sensitization Workshop/ Roundtable on Continental
Free Trade Areas(CFTA) In Nigeria.

The general public is therefore invited to attend the
workshop.

The workshop will cover the following themes: Trade Negotiations
and the Continental Free Area (AfCTA), Addressing the Concerns of
Nigerian Manufacturers in the Implementation of the AFCTAS; African
Continental Free Trade Area: Phases in the African Economic
Community (AEC) and Economic Integration: Opportunities and
Challenges for Nigeria.

The date for the workshop is Monday, 30th of April
2018,
Venue: Zuma Hall of the Rock View Hotel
(Classic) Abuja.
Time: 9:am prompt.

A panel Discussion moderated by Prof. Peter Akper,
SAN,OFR
will be led by trade negotiators and Stake holders
such as Ambassador C. Osakwe; Mr Segun
Ajayi-Kadir
, DG manufacturers Association of Nigeria,
(MAN), Professor Jonathan Aremu, the Director
General Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry,
Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and a host of other
stakeholders.

The African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is
aprotocol, signed in Kigali by 44 of the 54 African Union member
states which paves the way for an expanded market and economic
growth and development across the continent.

It is also is the first step in the implementation of AU Agenda
2063: the “Vision for an integrated, prosperous and
peaceful Africa”.
Although Nigeria is not signatory to
this Agreement as it is one of the countries which declined assent,
the Protocol is of great relevance to the African Continent and
presents excellent opportunities for enhanced trade and commerce to
Nigeria.
