The Executive Committee of NBA Awka Branch led by Ekene Okonkwo,
Esq. has paid a Courtesy Visit to the Acting Chief Judge of Anambra
State, Hon. Justice O.M. Anyachebelu in the Anambra State Judiciary
Headquarters, Awka on Monday, 7th October, 2019.
Accompanying the Executive Committee of the Branch were some
Elders of the Branch.
They congratulated the Acting Chief Judge on his deserved
appointment.
Highlights of the visit included, inter alia, facilitating and
fast-tracking, in collaboration with the Governor, the take-off of
the Court of Appeal recently approved for the State; improved
relations between the Bar and the Bench by ensuring that courts
give prior notices to lawyers when the courts are unable to sit or
sit late; better implementation of the Administration of Criminal
Justice Law of Anambra State, 2010 especially by the Magistrates in
the area of adhering to the spirit and letters of remand
proceedings, among others issues.
In his response, the Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice O.M
Anyachebelu thanked the Awka Bar and promised to look into the
germane issues they raised with a view to addressing them
expeditiously.
