In the quest to conduct elections amidst the Coronavirus
pandemic in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral commission
(INEC) has released a policy framework to guide the conduct of her
scheduled forthcoming gubernatorial elections for Edo & Ondo States
respectively.
It would be recalled that INEC had earlier on announced that
that it “will flag off robust engagements with its critical
stakeholders to present the policy document in view of the end of
tenure governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states scheduled for
19th September 2020 and 10th October 2020, respectively.”
In this light, INEC had released the policy framework which is
to enable officials and staff of INEC to understand and respond
adequately to the challenges of conducting elections in the context
of the COVID-19 pandemic and its health and financial implications,
and to provide a guide for engagement with stakeholders during
elections.
