Andy Robertson on West Brom Draw: “You Get What You Deserve”

Liverpool dominated the first half but lacked professionalism in
the second according to Robertson.

Liverpool remain top of the Premier League after fifteen rounds,
with a three-point edge on local rivals Everton—though if Manchester
United were to win their game in hand, the Reds’ more
traditional rivals in the table would be just two points off.

That’s the good news. The bad news was the horribly flat second
half performance Jürgen Klopp’s men put in against
relegation-threatened West Bromwith Albion that led to the side
dropping two points in their return to action following
Christmas.

“When you go slack you get what you deserve,” was left back Andy
Robertson’s take on Sunday afternoon’s disappointing result. “We
created a lot of chances in the first half and then in the second
half it was as if we didn’t want to do it again.

“We went slack. Every one of us made mistakes in the second
half. We should be experienced enough to see it out. We were
dominating and it was up to us to take the chances but we should be
professional enough to win 1-0 if we have to.”

This Liverpool side has proven it has the mentality to bounce
back following a poor result or brief stumble in recent years. As
disappointing as the result and second half performance was, it’s
hard to be too concerned in the grand scheme of things.

Still, in the midst of the most congested season in memory, West
Brom was a chance for the Reds to pad their lead a little coming
off a rare eight-day break, and they didn’t take it. Hardly the end
of the world; definitely a missed opportunity.

“We will take the point and move on,” Robertson added. “We can’t
dwell on it but it’s a huge disappointment. I’ve been in a
Championship team that has come up and you want to frustrate the
big teams and take that one chance you can get.

“That’s exactly what happened. Credit to them. They were great
in the second half but we need to be so much more professional. We
didn’t do that and it’s frustrating.”
