“The Nigeria of Our Dreams Is Achievable”, NBA President, Maikyau SAN Charges Nigerians, As the Country Clocks 62

*Urges Nigerians Not To Give Into Despair
*Charges Bar and Bench To Be Motivated By Justice In Participation In 2023 Election
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Y. C. Maikyau SAN has charged all Nigerians, stating that the Nigeria of their dream where everyone lives in peace and harmony is achievable. He urged them not to give into despair.
In an independence statement Maikyau SAN resonated that indeed the country was passing through difficult times, but the prospect of the Nigeria of our dream was more real than ever. His words read thus: “Nigeria, is without a doubt, passing through difficult times. Needless to mention the myriad of challenges which have become a chorus on our lips. But the realisation of our dream for a Nigeria where we all live in peace and harmony, with tremendous economic growth under a stable and purposeful political leadership, is more real to me than the doom which our present circumstances seem to point at.”
He went on to charge Nigerians not to give into despair or lose hope. ” We must resist every temptation to give up in our minds. We must retune our thinking, deliberately recalibrate our steps and actions towards actualisation of the Nigeria of our dream”, he stated emphatically.
Still remarking on the possibility of the Nigeria Nigerians dreamt of the NBA President stated that this was achievable by Nigerians by redirecting their minds, thoughts and actions towards the attainment of Justice in the Society. He noted that this was the only way to get out of the present negative experiences and build on our positive achievements in realising our potentials as a great nation.
On an essential element he opined that Nigeria needed, Maikyau SAN stated thus: “It was said that “ a people can exist without religion, but they cannot exist without justice.” (Sheikh Usman Bin Fodio) We must therefore rise above all prejudices to pursue Justice. This is only possible when we allow our humanity and the love of God in our hearts to find expression in our relationship with each other as a people.”
Furthermore, he established that Nigerians must have the mindset to pursue justice as they participate in the processes leading up to the 2023 general elections.
He went to charge the bar and Bench on the significant role they should play in the upcoming election thus: “I call on all members of the legal profession – Bench and Bar – Ministers in the Temple of Justice, to be motivated solely by Justice in our participation in the processes of the election. The Nigerian public looks up to the legal profession for guidance and direction in the task of the recovery, reformation and repositioning of the Nation and we cannot afford to fail.”
NBA President went forward on behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association, to pledge an unflinching commitment to a sincere and transparent transition in 2023 and beyond, through ensuring the observance of the rule of law.
In a final noted he wished all Nigerians a wonderful 62nd Independence Anniversary celebration, as according to him we all gearing up to midwife the rebirth of our great nation, Nigeria.
