Chief Idigbe, Dr. Ajibade Named Inaugural Patrons Of The Lawyers Chess Initiative

The Lawyers Chess Initiative Ltd/Gte (TLCI), a pioneering organization promoting chess within Nigeria’s legal community, has announced the appointment of Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN, Ph.D. and Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, FCIArb as its inaugural patrons.
Chief Idigbe and Dr. Ajibade, two of Nigeria’s most respected and accomplished legal luminaries, will provide guidance, support and advocacy for TLCI’s activities and programmes aimed at fostering chess among lawyers and law students.
In a press release signed by Harold Uku, Lead Coordinator, and Oza Enwonode, Coordinator, TLCI expressed pride in the appointments, highlighting the extensive experience and expertise the two senior advocates will bring to their new roles as patrons.
Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN, Ph.D. is a senior partner at PUNUKA Attorneys and Solicitors with over four decades of legal practice. He has served in leadership roles including as founding chairman of the Capital Market Solicitors Association and former president of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN). Chief Idigbe sits on the boards of several companies and non-profits.
Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, FCIArb. is the managing partner of S.P.A. Ajibade & Co, a leading corporate commercial law firm. A disputes resolution specialist, he has acted as counsel in arbitration proceedings and sits as an arbitrator. Dr. Ajibade holds key positions including Vice-Chair of the IBA’s Public and Professional Interest Section, Vice-President of the ICC Arbitration Commission’s Steering Committee, and Chairman of the NBA Judiciary Relations Committee.
As patrons, the legal icons will advocate for TLCI’s mission of organizing chess tournaments, providing chess education, and fostering networking within Nigeria’s legal profession through the strategic board game.
