Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the suspension of the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Damian Lawani.
He has also approved the suspension of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Samson Osagie.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., Secretary to the State Government, both officials were suspended over allegations of serious official and financial infractions.
“Consequently, the Governor has ordered the establishment of an investigative committee to examine the allegations against them and make appropriate recommendations,” the statement noted.
“The suspension of Hon. Damian Lawani and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice became necessary to allow a thorough investigation into the financial infractions alleged against them.
“They will remain suspended pending the outcome of the investigation,” the SSG added, stating that the suspension is effective immediately.
However, the statement did not specify the nature of the alleged financial infractions.
