The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lafia Branch has appointed Mohammed Danjuma, Esq. as the Chairman of its Human Rights Committee, while E.C. Okafor, Esq. has been named the Secretary.
The appointments were officially adopted during the NBA Lafia Congress Meeting held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The Human Rights Committee is tasked with promoting and protecting human rights, addressing violations, and engaging with relevant stakeholders to uphold justice.

In his appointment letter, NBA Lafia Chairman, Alakli Dennis Dauda, Esq., emphasized that the committee plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law, advocating for justice, and ensuring the protection of fundamental rights. He expressed confidence in Danjuma’s leadership and urged the committee to remain proactive in addressing human rights issues in Nasarawa State.
The appointed officials will serve for a two-year tenure, during which they are expected to lead initiatives on human rights awareness, legal advocacy, and community engagement.
Danjuma and Okafor are expected to formally accept their appointments and begin work immediately.
