Cubana Chief Priest, VeryDarkMan Condemn EFCC Arrest of E-Money, Allege Bias Against Igbos, Cite Okoya Sons’ Case

Prominent Nigerian socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, and outspoken activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, have both publicly condemned the reported arrest of billionaire businessman Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
E-Money, founder of 5-Star Music and a well-known philanthropist, was allegedly picked up at his Lagos residence in the Omole area on Monday night, April 25, over allegations of naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies.
According to a source within the EFCC who spoke under the condition of anonymity, “E-Money was arrested for naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. He is alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars at a public event, which contravenes the Foreign Exchange Act. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged to court once they are concluded.”
In a swift reaction, Cubana Chief Priest took to social media to defend his associate, describing E-Money’s arrest as a targeted attempt to break a strong and influential Igbo voice. He noted that E-Money had recently hosted a massive Easter homecoming concert in the Southeast to promote cultural pride and unity.
“This is a guy who just did everything to push up Southeast with his just-concluded homecoming concert this Easter,” Cubana wrote. “I knew they would come for him because they just saw his strength. They are doing this so they could break him to make him support them under duress.”
He further accused authorities of systemic bias against the Igbo, stating, “We don’t die; we multiply. More billionaires are coming. Come 2027, we will support and vote for who we want to. We won’t be broken.”
Adding fuel to the public outcry, activist VeryDarkMan questioned the EFCC’s consistency and transparency, comparing E-Money’s case to that of the sons of billionaire industrialist, Chief Rasaq Okoya. The activist alleged that despite similar naira abuse accusations in January involving Okoya’s sons—Wahab and Raheem—no visible progress has been made in their investigation.
“Okoya’s sons sprayed naira in a music video and were invited. But nothing happened afterward. That’s how the case died,” VeryDarkMan said in a video posted Tuesday. “Meanwhile, the EFCC sent over 50 men to E-Money’s house over alleged naira mutilation.”
He also claimed that E-Money’s arrest was linked to an incident where he allegedly stepped on naira notes while spraying foreign currency on singer Flavour during Obi Cubana’s 50th birthday celebration.
“They said it’s naira mutilation. So, someone spraying pounds should now start scanning the floor for naira notes in a crowd? This is ridiculous,” he said.
As of press time, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, had not officially confirmed E-Money’s arrest or issued a formal statement on the matter.
